The finals of the first ever Phuentshogling Inter school open tournament for Badminton and Table tennis was played, today. It was organised in two different categories of under 19 and under 14 for both boys and girls. More than 80 students from different schools in Phuentshogling took part in the weeklong tournament. The finalists were given away cash prizes along with certificates and trophies.
According to Phuentsholing Sports Association, the tournament was organized in order to keep the youth meaningfully engaged during their summer vacation. It was also to look out for potential players. The Association said, so far only coaching camps for these two disciplines were conducted. No tournaments could be organized due to lack of sponsors.
Meanwhile, lawn tennis coaching camp organized by the Association in collaboration with the Bhutan Tennis Federation is also underway. Around 40 students are taking part.
