Tsirang Dzongkhag Court has acquitted a 17-year-old student from Patshaling Gewog of raping a 40-year-old speech-impaired woman.
The verdict, pronounced on 18 July, stated it was rather a consensual intercourse between the boy and the woman as the latter gestured for sex. The court also ruled out any signs of physical assault on the woman’s body.
Furthermore, lack of substantial evidences failed to establish that the sexual intercourse between the two was a rape case.
