Woman gets 3 years for involuntary manslaughter

The Tsirang District Court has sentenced a woman from Mendrelgang to three years in prison for involuntary manslaughter.

The 35-year-old woman, in self defense, stabbed her husband on his right thigh, which led to his death last year. The husband is said to have died from excessive bleeding.

The incident happened in November.

The Penal Code of Bhutan categorizes the offence of involuntary manslaughter as a felony of fourth degree.
