Works are underway to blacktop the Gewog Centre (GC) road of Umling Gewog. It is the first Gewog Centre road to be blacktopped in Sarpang.
Umling Gup said works are in full swing to blacktop the first four kilometres of the road. The blacktopping of the remaining five kilometres would be carried out after the monsoon season is over.
Except for the Chhudzom Gewog Centre Road, the Department of Roads in Sarpang aims to blacktop the rest 11 Gewog Centre roads in the dzongkhag by the end of this year.
The 48-kilometre Chhudzom Gewog Centre Road is being left out because it needs to be widened. The road is also in need of other improvement works.
