The Gyalpoi Zimpoen, Dasho Penjore, met with the students and teachers and conveyed the condolences and concerns of His Majesty the King.

Sixty Seven students lost all their belongings, after their hostel was razed by a fire yesterday.

“We are thankful to His Majesty for the concern and care shown to us,” said Jebtshor Rai, a student.

The devastating fire had not claimed any lives but had razed to the ground all the little belongings the students had.

The students said the incident was shocking. Our reporter, Pema Namgay in Tsirang, says that the students and the teachers desperately tried to control the fire.

The fire occurred at around 1 in the afternoon when students were about to enter for their last exam. The fire was brought under control by 2.30 pm.
