Unemployment rate has dropped from 4 percent to 3.3 percent according to the latest labour force survey conducted under international norms and standards.

Presenting the state of the nation report to the parliament, lyonchhen Jigmi Y Thinley said from a population of about 7,00,000, the nation’s basic human resource consists of a workforce of over 3,31,000.

According to the latest survey, over 3,20,000 are employed, marking a downward movement for the first time in recent years.

Lyonchhen said this is a clear indication that his government is well on track to achieve its ambitious target of 2.5 percent unemployment rate in the next three years.
