(Update): Four Bhutanese students in Malaysia are hoping to return to the country soon, after their month long special permit visas expired earlier this month.

The students are among a group of 23 students who went to study in Malaysia in December last year through an education consultancy firm. The agent had promised them of admission into a college as well as part time jobs. However they did not get any of those, and were issued tourist visas.

In April this year, five students returned to the country after having spent a month in Malaysia on tourist visa and then two months in New Delhi trying to get student visas.

They are now taking legal action against the consultancy firm. Their first hearing at the District court in Thimphu is expected to take place on July 18.

Dechen Wangmo, 25, is one of the students stuck in Malaysia.  She said the agent told them that they will reach Malaysia on July 12 (tomorrow) to bring them back after four of them requested the proprietor.
