The labour minister says the government has provided employment to 2,208 job seekers so far. This, he said is more than half of its target of creating 4,139 jobs in the country.
Minister Ngeema Sangay Tshempo shared the figures while responding to a question on the country’s employment status in the National Assembly today. The question was raised by the MP of Khenkhar-Weringla constituency, Rinzin Jamtsho.
Majority of the 2,208 job seekers were employed through the overseas employment scheme.
He said the ministry is hoping to employ another 191 job seekers at the upcoming 14th National Job Fair. The job fair, which begins tomorrow, will be held at the Changlingmithang parking area.
