Langthil Gewog in Trongsa was supposed to get a fuel depot some six months ago. But there are still no signs of the fuel depot coming up anytime soon.

The fuel depot was to be built in Dangdung. Druk Petroluem bought the land a year ago and the depot was to be ready in six months after the land acquirement.

The Deputy General Manager of Druk Petroleum, Pema Wangdi, said they are still waiting for the final approval from the Bharat Petroleum Company in Kolkatta.

He added they are hoping to receive the approval by end of next month. If this happens, they would be able to start the depot by year end.

The need for a fuel depot was felt with an the increase in the number vehicles in the area since the start of the Mangdechhu hydropower electric project.

With no fuel depot in the area, people including the project staff either have to drive all the way to Trongsa or Zhemgang for fuel covering a distance of more than 50 kilometres.
