Many motorists say the East-West Highway stretch between Chendebji and Bumthang has improved after a major repair was carried out, this monsoon.

The potholes have been filled, drains cleared, and curves widened.

Tankers sprinkle water to control dust pollution.

With the repair work almost complete, travel between Chendebji and Bumthang has become faster, according to the motorists.

Even the passenger buses reach their destinations early.

Department of Roads’ Chief Engineer, Taugay Choedup said there are some stretches in between which still need to be widened.

The widening works is expected to complete by March 2018.
