A six-day arbitration or Nang-Kha-Nang-Drik training began in Lhuentse, yesterday. Her Majesty Queen Mother Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck and Her Royal Highness Princess Sonam Dechan Wangchuck graced the opening ceremony. More than 90 Chiwog Tshogpas from Lhuentse and Pemagatshel are taking part in the training.

Her Royal Highness Princess Sonam Dechan Wangchuck during the inaugural ceremony congratulated the newly elected Tshogpas. Her Royal Highness said local government is a developmental ideology of the country and one of the most important aspects of good governance. Her Royal Highness also said it is important to settle disputes in the community through the traditional practice of arbitration with new methods and ideas.

The program which started in 2012 has trained more than 1000 local leaders and other individuals across the country. So far, over 1500 cases have been solved through arbitration in communities following such trainings.
