His Majesty The King graced the closing ceremony of the eight session of the Second Parliament yesterday.

While ushering to the Gyalyong Tshogkhang, His Majesty was regally received by the National Assembly’s Speaker Jigme Zangpo and the National Council’s Chairperson Dr. Sonam Kinga.

Her Majesty the Gyaltsuen and other Royal family members also made their gracious presence at the closing ceremony.

Coinciding with 10th anniversary of His Majesty The King’s accession to the golden throne, Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay underlined ten milestone achievements under His Majesty’s dynamic leadership.

Prime Minister shared that “in these ten years of reign, His Majesty The King further cemented relations with foreign countries and further consolidated the country’s security.”

“His Majesty has granted land kidu and census to the people and in times of natural disasters, personally visited the affected areas and granted Kidu to the victims”, added the Prime Minister.

The session concluded with the offering of Tashi Moenlam to His Majesty by the Parliamentarians.

Within almost a month long of the Parliament sitting, various legislations such as Bhutan Red Cross Society bill, Customs bill and Civil Aviation bill were endorsed.

Trade, Commerce and Transit Agreement between Bhutan and India and Paris Agreement were also adopted by the house.

The former is to facilitate the trading between the two countries while the latter deals with mitigating climate change and it was adopted in December last year in Paris by Bhutan and other 194 countries.

The Motor Vehicles Agreement for the Regulation of Passenger and Cargo Vehicular Traffic between Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal was discussed too.
