Dzongdags and Thrompons will lead the nationwide cleaning campaign on Friday to commemorate the 10th year of His Majesty The King’s accession to the throne.

In Thimphu, the cleaning campaign will start in the afternoon after the parliament’s closing.

Works and human settlement minister, Dorji Choden said instructions have been given to the dzongkhags.

“Dzongdag will be the overall coordinator at the dzongkhag level.”

Thimphu Thrompon, Kinlay Dorjee said Thimphu will have 67 wards and each ward will be manned by municipality staff, DeSuups and residents.

He said some of the ministers, government secretaries and elected Members of Parliament will also join the cleaning campaign.

“We want the shops to be closed from 1 PM to 4 PM so that the shopkeepers can also participate.”
