Thimphu District Court sentenced a 24-year-old man to five years in prison for harvesting cannabis and producing its derivatives.
The verdict was passed Wednesday.
The convict was arrested in October this year following a tip off and seized more than 5 grams of hashish from him.
According to the Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and Substance Abuse Act of Bhutan 2015, the offence of illegal cultivation, domestication or harvest of cannabis and its derivatives shall be a felony of third degree.
