search-for-the-missing-monks-continuesThe body of one of  the three monks, who were washed away in Samdrup Jongkhar Saturday, has been found. Search for the other two continues.

The three: 16, 17 and 18 years old, along with five other monks from Local Shedra in Tshothang under Lauri Gewog had stopped by Jomre River on their way back to Shedra from Wongthi.

They had gone to Wongthi, two hours walk from the Shedra, to get their ration.

The three insisted on swimming while the other five rested a little farther away from the river.

It was 3 PM Saturday when the monks were washed away.

Police, Army and local volunteers continue the search.

The Dzongkhag Kidu Office, on behalf of His Majesty, has given Nu 10,000 each as semso to the monks’ families.
