His Majesty grants audience to the Officer in Chief, Eastern Command

His Majesty the King granted an audience to the Officer in Chief, Eastern Command, Lieutenant General Bikram Singh at the Tashichhodzong today. He arrived in the Kingdom yesterday on a four day visit.

Lt. General Singh was commissioned into the Sikh Light Infantry regiment in 1972. In a career spanning over thirty eighty years, he has held a number of important command and staff appointments.

He has commanded an infantry battalion in the North East and on the line of control in Jammu and Kashmir among others. He has also served in three UN peace keeping missions.

Later in the afternoon, His Majesty the King also hosted a luncheon for Lt. General Bikram Singh.

His Majesty grants audience to US Congressman Brian Baird


His Majesty the King also granted an audience to US Congressman Brian Baird today.

He was elected in 1998 to serve the people of Washington State’s third congressional district.

He currently serves for the house transportation and infrastructure committee, where he serves on the water resources and environment sub-committee, the highways and transit sub-committee and the coast guard and maritime transportation sub-committee.

Mr. Baird is also a member of the science and technology committee where he serves as the chairman of the energy and environment sub-committee.
