Lyonchhen calls on India’s PM

lyonchhen-calls-on-indias-pmOn the sideline of the BRICS-BIMSTEC Outreach Summit in Goa, India, Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay called on Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. The Prime Minister conveyed the greetings and warm wishes of His Majesty The King.

Prime Minister Modi conveyed his well wishes to His Majesty The King, Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen, His Royal Highness The Gyalsey and the Royal Family of Bhutan.

The Prime Minister thanked Prime Minister Modi for inviting the BIMSTEC countries for an outreach Summit with BRICS and said that this will provide a good platform to boost ties between the two groups.

Lyonchhen also thanked the Indian Prime Minister and the Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj for GoI’s assistance to bring the image of Zhabdrung from Asiatic Society Museum in Kolkatta to Bhutan.

Lyonchhen expressed concerns on the deteriorating security situations in the region. Prime Minister Modi thanked and expressed gratitude to Bhutan for showing solidarity during such time.

They also discussed the ongoing hydropower projects, development cooperation and other areas of mutual interest.

Prime Minister, Tshering Tobgay also met the President of Sri Lanka. They discussed possibilities of training Bhutanese doctors as specialist in Sri Lanka and exchange visit of monks from the two countries for pilgrimage.pmtshering-tobgay-goa-brics-bimstec-outreach-summit

Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay was in Goa to attend the BRICS-BIMSTEC Outreach Summit which ended yesterday.
