education-ministry-initiates-performing-arts-in-schoolsThe education ministry is initiating performing arts in schools and exposing Bhutanese students to new avenues of expression.

The ministry hosted a clown theatre at the National Referral Hospital, recently.

According to the ministry, performing arts is an important aspect of education and has been missing from the curriculum. Clown theatre, the ministry said, is a medium to spread happiness and laughter which is also in line with Bhutan’s Gross National Happiness philosophy.

The same show was presented to young monks at Dechen Phodrang Lhakhang.

Clown duo Rupesh Tillu from India and Nalle Laanela from Sweden entertained the crowd with comedy, Juggling and magic. They are international artists and have created award winning shows.

The clown show is part of the Smile Project.
