For the first time, the artifacts of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel will be showcased to the public for six months. Preparation works are almost complete for the exhibition.
The exhibition will begin on September 21.
The Royal Textile Academy and Textile Museum have archived different artifacts like prayer beat, stupa, statue of Zhabdrung, Zhabdrung’s shoes from Gasa, Wangdue, Semtokha Dzong and National Library.
“These artifacts were with various owners collecting dust in choeshams and never seen the lights of the conservation,” said the Textile Museum’s Programme Director, Singye Dorji.
He said the artifacts, which are over 400 years old, need restoration and conservation.
Three different appliqué and reincarnations of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel will also be displayed during the formal exhibition.
Twelve experts from the Royal Textile Academy and Textile Museum are carrying out the preparations.
