Ministry of Education is exploring the possibilities of establishing two premier schools specializing in Science and Mathematics for class 7 to 12.

The initiative is in response to poor performance of students in Science and Mathematics.

Education minister, Norbu Wangchuk said their strategy is to have additional science curriculum, good science teachers, good laboratory facilities, and special science assessment among others in these schools.

“What is really happening with the present system is that we are probably creating mediocrity and just averages.”

Lyonpo said they need to spot talented students with aptitude for science from all over the country, give them the special ambience and special environment and immerse them in learning circumstances.
