Damphu Central School in Tsirang becomes the country’s first school to introduce biometrics system. Biometrics attendance technology uses fingerprints to record the time and attendance of employees.
The school’s IT teacher, Karma Dupchu said the system will help promote punctuality and put in place a fair attendance system. He said it will also to help reduce use of paper in the school.
“The installation of the machine has helped reduce my work. Earlier, I had to print the name list of teachers every month and get it signed by all the teachers,” said the school’s assistant administrative officer, Lhadon.
The Teachers have also welcomed the new initiative.
“Some people might even think that the teachers of Damphu Central School are now trapped. But, it is important that we mark our own punctuality,” said a teacher, Sonam Choden
The machine’s installation cost Nu 18,000.
