Bajo needs a college- localsPeople of Wangdue Phodrang are planning to put up a proposal to the Prime Minster requesting for a college in the dzongkhag. They plan to put up the same request to the education ministry.

With the number of people residing in Wangdue Phodrang growing, the locals feel the need to upgrade Bajo Higher Secondary School to a college.

The issue was brought up during the recent the Dzongkhag Tshogdu.WangdueDT-College

A proposal from the Bajo Thromde Thuemi, Rinchen Norbu says a college would not just benefit Wangdue but also the nearby dzongkhags: Punakha, Lobesa, Dagana, Tsirang, Gasa.

“Bajo is already a developed school and not much work has to be done if we are to upgrade the school.”

Some of the local leaders said their concern is the school’s location. The school is located near Punatshangchhu River. The river, they said, could pose threat to the infrastructure, especially in summer.

They said a new location should be identified.
