11 families lose everything to fire

11 families loses everything to fireSix structures in Bajo Town under Wangdue Phodrang were completely razed to ground, this morning. Eleven families lost all their belongings to the fire. No casualty has been reported.

“I came to know about the fire when my wife woke me up. I rushed to get my children out. I couldn’t save any of my belongings. I lost all my documents,” said one of affected, Diliram Tirwa.

Another resident, Dorji said the fire incident has turned his life upside down. “I am a poor man. I will not be able construct such a house with just about 50,000 to 60,000.

The fire said to have started at around 2 AM from a nearby hut, destroyed five huts and a two-storied traditional house.

A nearby concrete building was also partially damaged.11 families loses everything to fire--

The fire was contained at 6 am in the morning.

Affected families will be moved to a nearby temporary vegetable shed which has been turned into a relief shelter.

The dzongkhag handed over His Majesty’s semso and relief kits to the affected families.
