His Majesty graces the parliament’s openingHis Majesty the King graced the opening of the seventh session of the second parliament, today.

Upon arrival at the courtyard, His Majesty was received in traditional Chipdrel ceremony by the Prime Minister, National Assembly Speaker, Opposition Leader, National Council Chairperson, Cabinet Ministers and the Members of Parliament.

The National Assembly Speaker, Jigme Zangpo on behalf of the parliamentarians, thanked His Majesty for gracing the ceremony.

The Speaker also spoke about the Birth of the His Royal Highness the Gyalsey and expressed how blessed and privileged the Bhutanese are to have three generations, the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, His Majesty The King and the Gyalsey, present at the same time.

The Parliament will deliberate on the Jabmi (Amendment) Bill of Bhutan 2014, Companies Bill of Bhutan 2014, Paro Thromde and the Motor Vehicles Agreement for the Regulation of Passenger, Personal and Cargo Vehicular Traffic between Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal.

The Annual Report on the State of the Nation and the Anti-Corruption Commission Annual Report 2015 will also be presented in the parliament.

The session will end on June 30.
