Denchi gets a go ahead signalDzongkhag land allotment committee, shopkeepers, and land owners of Denchi, Pema Gatshel, decided 27 commercial and 78 residential plots will be allotted by next month. The decision comes after years of waiting.

“The plots will be allotted within 21 days,” said Dzongkhag’s Land Record Officer, Wangdi.

According to the Local Area Plan, there are 49 commercial plots. However, Wangdi said, in line with their guidelines, only 27 shopkeepers will receive the plots in the first phase.

The guideline was drawn in consultation with shopkeepers and land allotment committee.

“As per the guideline, we can allot plots to those shopkeepers who have been continuously running businesses for more than 10 years.”

There are over a 100 shopkeepers for 49 commercial plots.

Once the first phase is complete, the committee will seek National Land Commission’s approval to allot the remaining 22 commercial plots.
