Court reviewing DPT versus Dasho Benji's case (1)Thimphu District Court has not summoned Druk Phuensum Tshogpa (DPT) and the Advisor to the National Environment Commission, Dasho Paljor J. Dorji, popularly known as Dasho Benji since February, this year.

The court is in the process of reviewing the entire case.

When DPT filed the case with the court, they had filed it as a criminal case saying Dasho Benji must be punished for defaming the party.

DPT had accused Dasho Benji of posting a defamatory statement; “having robbed the country blind”, against the party on Facebook.

But, the law of the land says since the case comes under the civil case classification, punishment is completely ruled out.

On other hand, Dasho Benji’s Legal Representative says DPT also must be punished for being seditious and corrupt party.

DPT filed a libel lawsuit against Dasho Benji in September 2014.
