A Non-Commissioned Police Officer, 36, is under Phuentshogling police custody for allegedly stabbing his wife to death, last night. The 26-year-old deceased succumbed to injuries on reaching Phuentshogling hospital.

Before the incident, the victim had gone to her friend’s place to tell her that her husband had hit her repeatedly accusing her of having an extramarital affair.

The friend, who is an eye-witness, told the police the man had come in search of his wife to her place and an argument had ensued.

After a heated argument, an hour later, the man reportedly stabbed his wife.

The eye-witness said she tried to intervene but the man pushed her away. As soon as she came out of the house to look for help, the man latched the door from inside.

When she came back, the suspect came out of the house with a knife covered in blood. She saw her friend lying in a pool of blood.

They had been married for a year. The deceased is survived by three children, from previous marriage.

The man, who works at Sarpang police station, is under suspension.
