Students and teachers vaccinated en masseFifty-six students and some teachers of Pelrithang Middle Secondary School in Sarpang were vaccinated for coming in contact with a rabid dog. Gelegphu Veterinary Hospital confirmed the puppy had rabies. It died on April 8.

A teacher of the school had kept the stray puppy as pet after it was seen in the vicinity.

A veterinary official in Gelegphu, Dr. Gyembo said locals in the area should be careful with their interaction with the animals as Gelegphu has a porous border and is Rabies-endemic zone.
