Court rejects former head of chancery’s rebuttalThimphu District Court rejected the first rebuttal submission of the former head of chancery of Bhutanese Embassy in Bangkok, yesterday.

The defendant’s rebuttal submission was rejected after the court found no substantive justification to defend that he is not guilty of misusing the government’s fund.

The court has asked him to submit another rebuttal on April 13.

The former head of chancery is alleged to have misused over Nu 17 M meant for medical referrals of Bhutanese patients to Bangkok.

The Office of the Attorney General has charged him on 26 counts. It includes embezzlement, official misconduct, and deceptive practice.

OAG registered the case with the court on March 1, this year.
