Thimphu Police have detained a 39-year-old man for alleged sexual assault of a two year-old female child, on Saturday, in Thimphu.
The suspect, who is the victim’s neighbor, had taken the child out for a walk. Upon reaching home, the victim’s mother noticed bloodstain on the child’s diaper. She was immediately taken to the National Referral Hospital.
Forensic Health Assistant, Kuenzang Norbu said they found multiple lacerations and pubic hair in the victim’s body. They also found bloodstain on the suspect’s undergarment.
The child is in a stable condition and has been discharged from the hospital. The case is under investigation.
