The Royal Monetary Authority (RMA) has released Rs 35.7 M in the last three days from the new exchange counters established in Thimphu and Phuentshogling. The amount withdrawn was more in Thimphu than in Phuentshogling.
In the first day, around Rs 8 M was withdrawn. In the next two days, it had increased to Rs 12 M and Rs 14 M.
RMA Governor, Dasho Penjore said the central bank is expecting the outflow to stabilise in a month’s time to sustainable level.
More than 800 individuals used the facility during the last three days. According to records with the central bank, housewives and civil servants topped the list of those availing the facility.
