PCAL employees criticise ACC for inactionEmployees of the Penden Cement Authority Limited (PCAL) in Gomtu are criticising Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) for not taking action against the PCAL Deputy General Manager of Administration for his role in abuse of power, fraudulent, and corrupt practices.

In May, this year, a series of complaints were leveled against the Manager by the employees following which a letter was sent by the ACC to the PCAL Board to investigate the case.

A five member ad hoc Investigating Committee, from the company, was formed immediately.

In July, the committee came out with the findings which showed most of the allegations against the Deputy General Manager were true. He was alleged of not possessing a degree certificate, misuse of Company pool vehicles, and unauthorised possession of 9 mm Browning pistol.

He was also alleged by the Employees of ‘creating disharmony and disrupting congenial work environment in the company’ and interfering in most of the affairs of the company.

Despite, repeated attempts to get ACC take action against the Manager; the employees said the ACC made several excuses to defer their pleas. The Employees told BBS, it has been roughly three months since the Investigation report on the Manager was submitted to the Anti-Corruption Commission but there has been no action.
