Nu 2 B set aside for Dzongkhag Thromde activities

NA-ins6Works and human settlement minister, Dorji Choden said a capital budget of Nu 2 B has been set aside for the 16 Dzongkhag Thromde activities as per the 11th five year plan. Lyonpo was responding to a question raised by Dramedtse-Ngatshang MP, Ugyen Wangdi during the National Assembly’s Question Hour, today.

“It is our understanding that the election of 20 Dzongkhag Thromdes shall be conducted simultaneously. If so, how much beget is estimated to be allocated for the development of thromdes?” asked MP Ugyen Wangdi.

Lyonpo Dorji Choden also said they have plans to upgrade some 10 Yenlag Thromdes to thromdes since they have potential. “New plans will have to be made for the remaining 10,” said the minister.

She also added additional budget has been requested for the dzongkhag and Yenlag Thromde.

“There is already a budget for the Dzongkhag Thromdes but we thought additional expenditure will be needed after the election so we requested additional Nu 80 M to establish Dzongkhag Thromde. We have requested for Nu 50 M for Yenlag Thromde.”
