Turkish-Ambassador-presents-credentials-to-His-MajestyThe new Ambassador of Turkey to Bhutan, Devrim Öztürk presented his credentials to His Majesty the King at Tashichhodzong, today. Ambassador Öztürk is Turkey’s second ambassador to Bhutan.

Formal diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Bhutan and Republic of Turkey was established on 26th September 2012.

Later in the evening, Ambassador called on the Prime Minister, Tshering Tobgay at the GyalyongTshogkhang.

A press release from the Prime Minister’s office says Lyonchhen expressed confidence that relations between the two countries would continue to grow during the tenure of the new ambassador.

Lyonchhen extended his gratitude to Ambassador Öztürk for representing the Government of Turkey and for their valuable contribution at the launch of Bhutan Health Trust Fund, in October, this year. Lyonchhen said that this major contribution would go a long way in sustaining free healthcare in the country.

The Prime Minister also said Turkey’s support in initiating Turkish International Development Cooperation projects in Bhutan was well received and appreciated.

The Turkish Ambassador said he would continue to build on the goodwill established by his predecessor in Bhutan.

The two leaders spoke about exploring opportunities and increasing collaboration in various sectors such as tourism, business and human resource development.
