Affected farmers granted Royal kidu--The Office of the Gyaltshab and respective dzongkhag administrations in the East delivered Royal kidu to those households affected by hailstorm and wind, last month. October’s hailstorm and wind had affected four eastern districts of Lhuentse, Monggar, Trashi Yangtse and Trashigang.

Trashigang received the Royal kidu, yesterday. The hailstorm on October 13 had damaged around 64 acres of paddy in Bidoong and Phongmed Gewogs. Over 260 households lost over 113,000 kilograms of paddy to the hailstorm.

Karmo from Tshigtoom village under Bidoong Gewog is one of the kidu recipients.

“I am thankful to His Majesty the King.” She said she cried a lot when she lost her crops to the hailstorm.

Karmo, who lives alone, said she would have faced a lot of hardship had it not been for the kidu.Affected farmers granted Royal kidu-

Like Karma, other kidu semso recipients said they are touched by His Majesty’s love and concern.

“Since there were many of us, who were affected, I did not expect His Majesty to grant us kidu. We are grateful,” said Singye from Bidoong. He said the kidu semso has relieved them of many problems after they lost their crops to the hailstorm.

“The soelra is precious since it is granted by His Majesty the King. We will use it fruitfully by buying only necessary items. The semso will also help us to meet our children’s expenses,” said another kidu recipient, Kuenzang.

The windstorm October 13 and 23 affected over a 1000 households and damaged over 830 acres of paddy and maize fields in six districts.

The other affected districts were Punakha and Wangdue Phodrang.

His Majesty granted Nu 17.54 M as cash semso to the affected farmers.
