Waste water sample sent to Thimphu for verification (Update): Samdrup Jongkhar municipality has sent waste water sample from the sewage treatment plant to Thimphu’s National Environment Commission to find out if it caused fish in Dungsamchu to die. Scores of fish had turned up dead in Dungsamchu that flows by the Samdrup Jongkhar town on Sunday.

The thromde had to send the sample to Thimphu as Samdrup Jongkhar has no facilities to carry out such test. The result should be out in a week, according to municipal officers.

The forest officials in Samdrup Jongkhar had suspected the waste water from the sewage to be the cause. They are also investing to verify other possibilities.
