A landowner in Tashiyangjong Chiwog in Tsirang said he will not allow people to use the farm road that passes through his landA landowner in Tashiyangjong Chiwog in Tsirang said he will not allow people to use the farm road that passes through his land.

Bhawani Shankhar claims the gewog administration did not seek his permission to use his land for the construction of the 3.25-Kilometre farm road.

The construction, which will cost Nu 6 M began in August, this year.

The first cutting of the road is complete. The starting point of the road is from the Bhawani Shankar’s land. He said he hasn’t signed any written agreement that allows his land to be used for the construction of the road.

“I have filed the case to the National Environment Commission as the construction is being carried out without my notice.”

Bhawani Shankar said at least 15 fruit-bearing trees from his land have been uprooted and re-planted haphazardly.A landowner in Tashiyangjong Chiwog in Tsirang said he will not allow people to use the farm road that passes through his land.

On the other hand, the gewog officials and locals say they had sought permission from the landowner before starting the construction.

“We are not going to identify new area for the road because he told us to construct the road from his land in the presence of the gup and the people,” said Kilkhorthang’s Gup, Tshewang Norbu.

A farmer from Tashiyangjong Chiwog, Sonam said if they are not allowed to construction the road through Bhawani’s land, about 60 households will be affected.

After the landowner filed a complaint to the National Environment Commission, officials from NEC investigated the case on Monday. NEC is yet to reveal the findings.
