An accused, 42, is feared drowned in Punatshangchhu while trying to escape, at around 10 AM, yesterday. The accused, from Sarpang, was detained for the rape of a minor.
Upon reaching the Wangdue Phodrang District Court, he had asked to go to the toilet and had latched the door from inside. He apparently escaped from the court’s window.
He had tried to wade through the river supposedly knowing that all escape routes would have security looking for him.
The police are looking for his body. He was arrested in June, this year.
