Chhukha District Court released seven immigration officials on bail, last Monday. They had appealed to the district court after Phuentshogling Dungkhag Court had convicted them to three years imprisonment each in August.
The seven officials will remain on bail until the district court passes the verdict.
The seven are among 83 people accused of tampering documents and bribery, among others.
They have been accused of colluding with police personnel at the check posts, foreign worker recruitment agents and taxi drivers.
Of the 83, only one was acquitted. The rest were convicted and two granted a deferred judgment.
The minimum sentence received was one-year bailable imprisonment while the highest was three years non- bailable.
