His Royal Highness Gyaltshab Jigme Dorji Wangchuck visited Yumchey Village under Jarey Gewog in Lhuntse and met with the affected families of the 24th August landslide, where it damaged four houses, belonging to seven households.

Families of seven households in Yumchey village under Jarey Gewog had to evacuate their houses following a landslide below their village.

The landslide occurred on August 24 following weeks of heavy rainfall.

As a result four two-storied houses were severely damaged. The four houses belong to seven households. Cracks have also developed in the surrounding areas of the four houses. It has also blocked the farm road.

The affected families are currently living in makeshift tents, pitched by the Dzongkhag administration and the kidu office.

His Royal Highness met all the affected families and conveyed His Majesty the Kings condolence and support for them. Gyaltshab Jigme Dorji Wangchuck also handed over the semso soelra from His Majesty the King to the affected households.

His Royal Highness also visited all the affected houses to assess the damages caused by the landslide. Gyaltshab also visited the surrounding and the landslide area just below Yumchey village.

Yumchey village is located 10 kilometers away from Jarey Gewog Center and is one of the remote villages in Lhuntse Dzongkhag and has over 30 households.

Meanwhile, the Royal Insurance Corporation Limited has already assessed the damages and is ready to disburse the insurance claims. Three houses will be paid Nu 110,000, while one house will be paid Nu 60,000.
