Given the bad road condition from Bumthang to Thimphu, the Tour of the Dragon bicycle race is going to be more challenging, this year. The annual tour kicks off from Bumthang September 6 morning.

This year, 40 cyclists from all over the world are taking part in the race.

Pete, 64, from the Netherlands is the oldest competitor.

“…I am bit scared about the road condition. It is going to be tough because if it rains the mud will slow you down and it takes lot more energy. This is a long race you need all the energy. You don’t want to waste your energy in muddy conditions.”

Another participant, Norbu said they will need to put extra effort in cycling. “Compared to last year, this year is going to be tough.”

The tour of the dragon is the world’s toughest mountain bike race.
