Dungsam Cement to temporarily shut down to replace machinery (2)Dungsam Cement Corporation will shut down manufacturing cement for three weeks in between July and August, this year. The plant is being shut down to replace three machines called the rotary airlocks, bag house fan impellers and pre-heater impellers.

Over a telephone interview, the Chief Executive Officer of DCCL, Dorji Norbu said it was a normal shut down. “Any mega plant will shut down for a few weeks in a year for repair and maintenance.”

Built at a cost of Nu 10.8 B, DCCL has been running in losses since its commissioning, earlier this year. It has floated around three corporate bonds to finance its loan repayment.
