Kholongchhu project’s construction to begin soonConstruction of the 600 megawatt Kholongchhu hydropower project will happen anytime soon with the project now assuming a legal status after it was incorporated as a company under the companies act, this week.

The certificate of incorporation was handed over by the minister of economic affairs to Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVNL) and Druk Green Power Corporation.

The two public sector units can now start the construction of access infrastructures.

The projects access infrastructure consist two bridges and a 40 km road stretch.

Economic affairs minister, Norbu Wangchuk said after awarding the works for the access infrastructure, the project will finalise the tender packages for the construction of the main component.
