Paro Police have detained a 25-year-old woman from Samtse for allegedly murdering a married couple. The police said the husband and wife were strangled to death on Wednesday evening in Woochu under Loong-nyi Gewog.

Their eight-year-old son, who was at home when the incident happened, had managed to run away from the scene.

Police suspect that the victims were under the influence of alcohol when the incident took place. However, they are yet to get the confirmation from the post-mortem report.

The couple worked as caretaker in an apple orchard in Woochu.

Police are also yet to confirm the cause of the murder.
