Tsirang District Court sentenced a 33-year-old man from Paksey, Khibisa Gewog, under Dagana to nine years and six months in prison for raping a minor and possessing contraband substance.
He has been asked to pay a compensation of Nu 25,000 to the victim’s family. Tsirang police had arrested him in March, this year.
The victim’s father was also sentenced for a month for physically assaulting the convict. He will have to pay a fine of Nu 1,000.
The court also sentenced another man for a month for slapping the convict. He will also pay a penalty of Nu 2,000.
The verdict was passed yesterday.
