First batch of relief team return homeThe first batch of earthquake relief medical team in Nepal returned home today. The cabinet and health secretaries and representatives from the Gyalpoi Zimpon’s office received the team at the airport.

Some members who returned today were in Nepal for two weeks. They have been in Nepal since April 25.

First batch of relief team return home--Dr. Singye, one of the members of the first batch, said the team gained valuable experiences during their stint in Nepal helping the surviving victims. This experience, he said, would be useful should such incidents occur again in the future.

Another member, Chador Wangdi said the relief team was successful in providing assistance to the victims of the earthquake.

We have been able, he said, to fulfill His Majesty wishes to provide assistance to the quake victims.

A second batch is expected to return from Nepal Thursday. The team based in Trishuli under Nuwakot district has treated over 1,900 patients and performed over 190 surgeries so far.
