Foundation stone for MHPA’s dam concreting laid

Foundation stone for MHPA’s dam concreting laid--Works and Human Settlement Minister, Dorji Choden laid the foundation stone for dam concreting of 720-MW Mangdechhu Hydroelectric Projects in Trongsa, yesterday.

Lyonpo Dorji Choden said the progress of MHPA is impressive. “…the project has reached at a stage where uncertainties will not be much,” said Lyonpo.

Concreting of the dam will cost about Nu 2 B. Over 50 percent of the dam construction is said to be complete with the excavation works also over.

MHPA’s Managing Director, AK Mishra said concreting of the dam will take about two and a half years. Apart from interfacing works of the hydro mechanical, AK Mishra said they are going to place 450,000 cubic meter of concrete. “We are aiming at completing by December 2017.”

MHPA’s Chairman, Lyonpo Norbu Wangchuk said they are putting in all the efforts to make the Mangdechhu, the best project in the region.

More than a half of MHPA’s overall construction is completed till date.
