BhutanWinsAgainBhutan continues to progress in Road to Russia by scoring two goals against Sri Lanka’s one in the second leg of world cup qualifier played at Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu, today.

A brace from Bhutanese striker, Chencho Gyeltshen helped Bhutan win emphatically from Sri Lanka by 3:1 on aggregate to advance to the next round of the qualifier.

As thousands of people cheered on, Bhutan’s striker Chencho Gyeltshen placed the game in Bhutan’s favour by scoring the match’s first goal within four minutes. His chip over the Sri Lankan goalkeeper found the back of the net.

Bhutan again threatened to score from the free kick but the opponent keeper’s saved the goal. The Bhutanese defense displayed their brilliant tackles to keep the Sri Lankan attack at bay but could not continue on as the corner kick was converted with a header to help Sri Lanka equalise in 25th minutes by jersey number 15.

Bhutan dominated second half of the match creating many chances but failed to convert them into goals.

The Lankans were determined to win the match and a powerful header from the Lankan player nearly went in but was saved by the Bhutanese goalkeeper and cleared by the Bhutanese defense.

Towards end of the match in 90th minute, a solo effort from Chencho in the D-area sealed the match for Bhutan.
