Seven Asian countries attend sanitation and hygiene workshopOver 40 participants from seven Asian countries took part in a four-day workshop on Sanitation and Hygiene in Paro. The workshop focused on bringing positive health changes in the region.

The “Asia Regional Learning Event on Behavior Change Communication” jointly organised by SNV and Ministry of Health aims to learn most effective approaches to improve sanitation and hygiene behaviors by sharing experiences among the participants.

“Our objective is to share our ideas and opinions. It is also to share strategies that are being implemented in our respective countries and how successful they are,” said health ministry’s Chief Engineer, Rinchen Wangdi.

Participants also learned new ideas and strategies to change behavior of the people.

A participant from Cambodia said that they can use the ideas to bring changes when they go back to their homelands.

“We are quite similar to you here; we need to do more in terms of changing the behavior of the people. So this is a great opportunity to learn and to share what we have done so afar and what are the strengths and what are the weaknesses we need to avoid,” said Chreay Pom from Cambodia.

The event is the first regional workshop of its kind to be hosted in Bhutan. Participants from Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Nepal, Vietnam and Bhutan, took part in the workshop.
