Fire in Monggar, that continues to rage for the fifth day today, has destroyed thousands of acres of forest in Saling and Tsamang Gewogs. Difficult terrain is making it impossible to contain the fire, the officials say.
The fire first started on Thursday last week at around 4 PM from Lingmithang. It has now spread to Drakmaling under Tsamang Gewog.
Officials say there are no risks to village settlements.
